Daniel John Strenfel was born November 7th, 1919 in Panama City, Illinois to Slovenian immigrants John Strenfel and Molly Pink. He was the eldest of six children. He was raised on the family farm in Poplar Bluff, MO. As a young man, he came out west and lived and worked in Tule Lake, California until his service in the US Air Force. He served both in WWII in India and Burma earning 2 bronze medals and in the Korean War as an airplane mechanic.

He married Rosemary Burnette in the early 50's and together they raised their five children, John, Dennis, Philip, James and Maureen. They were the loving grandparents to Daniel, Thomas, Scott, Shannon, Alexandra, Zachary and Kyle Strenfel. They were married for over 50 years. Dan will now be re-united with his loving wife as she passed in January 2001.

After leaving the service, Dan established his own business, "Dan's Transmissions" located in San Jose, California. He retired in 1980 at the age of 60. He was a hard working man who was dedicated to being the best possible provider for his family. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. He will be remembered for his love for his wife, sense of humor, easy going nature, genuine interest in others, his vegetable garden and roses, his love for Gunther's Restaurant, and for being an avid lover of animals especially Skeeter and Jitters.
